Report of the Manager and Chief Engineer of the Kowloon- Canton Railway, British Section, on his visit to the Construction Work of the Canton-Hankow Railway in
November, 1935.
I.
GENERAL.

1. The tour of inspection was undertaken at the
invitation of the Managing Director of the Southern
Administration and the Director and Engineer-in-Chief of
the Chuchow-Shaochow Section (Construction section) of
the Canton-Hankow Railway.
2. The itinerary of the tour was as follows :
22.11.35 - Left Kowloon at 4.50 p.m. by the Up express.
Arrived Canton 7.47 p.m.
Canton.
Spent the night in
23.11.35 Left Wongsha (Canton) Station by the 7.45 a.m.
Through Express to Lok Chong in a reserved

saloon. Mr. Li Lu Chao, the Managing Director
of the Chinese Section of the Canton-Kowloon
Railway and Mr. S.S. Lee, the Secretary of the
Southern Administration of the Canton-Hankow
Railway, accompanied me.
Arrived Lok Chong
(170th mile) at 4.55 p.m. and spent the night
in the coach.
Left Lok Chong at 7 a.m. by motor trolley for
Ping Shek (202nd mile). Mr. Y.C. Lee the
District Engineer, Ping Shek, and other Chinese
Railway officials accompanied me.
Inspected consolidation work in progress and
the Sun Huan Ho Bridge at Railhead (205th mile).
This bridge is the largest of the 5 reinforced
concrete arch bridges to be constructed.
Returned to Ping Shek and left at 12 noon for
Heng chow (338th mile) by motor car on the
